Yoga Instructor / Sound Healer
April established a regular practice in ashtanga and hatha in 2009 as a form of respite from a stressful publishing career. She became intrigued in yoga as a spiritual practice and way of life, and felt an innate calling to delve deeply into its study.
Six years later, she underwent her RYT 200-hour teacher training in vinyasa and hatha yoga in India, and fell into teaching organically. April adopts a practical and open-minded approach to yoga practice and philosophy, a methodology acquired from her teacher and mentor Yogi Sivadas.
She is a true advocate of yoga for everybody and every kind of body, and believes that every posture can be modified to suit any age and fitness level. Her teaching style exemplifies yoga as a moving meditation–one that is practised with grace, and a real awareness of the mind and body connection.
Also a certified sound healer, her classes begin and end with the sound and vibrations from a Tibetan singing bowl to balance the physical and energetic bodies during savasana.
She continues to grow her practice as an ever-evolving student of yoga while regularly incorporating pranayama (breathing techniques), kriya (cleansing techniques), meditation and chanting. April also offers private and group sound healing sessions in yogArt’s Healing Room.
